Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. Some of them would make really thoughtful quotes for condolences too - when it’s so difficult to find the right words. Here are the death quotes that made me feel all the feels during my Mum’s illness and after she passed. I didn’t know what to expect, but I didn’t think that death could be so beautiful. She passed away peacefully 15 minutes later. I read it to her again the next day and she cried a single tear to show she had heard me. The moment she heard the quote, her breathing calmed and she was at peace. Once the day before she died - she had been non responsive for 24 hours by then and her breathing had become laboured. I read one quote (see quote 47) to Mum twice. The Tibetan book of living and dying - this book gave us all so much peace. It only takes a few minutes to read and I’m always crying happy tears by the end. I bought it to read to my daughter but I think it was me that really needed it. The next place - this book is so hard to describe. There were two books in particular that were full of poignant quotes for grief, and got me through this time:

There are several levels of indirection when going from an open file in a process all the way to the file content.Revised of 7 MultiSpec Tutorial: Supervised Classification - Select Training Fields Requirements: MultiSpec application and image titled “ag020522_DPAC_cd.lan”. Implementation-wise, these levels generally translate into data structures in the kernel pointing to the next level. I'm going to describe a straightforward implementation real implementations are likely to have a lot more complications.Īn open file in a process is designated by a file descriptor, which is a small nonnegative integer. The numbers 0, 1 and 2 have conventional meanings: processes are supposed to read normal input from 0 (standard input), write normal output to 1 (standard output), and write error messages to 2 (standard error). This is only a convention: the kernel doesn't care. The kernel keeps a table of open file descriptors for each process, mapping these small integers to a file descriptor structure. In the Linux kernel, this structure is struct fd. The file descriptor structure contains a pointer to an open file description. There can be multiple file descriptors pointing to the same open file description, from multiple processes, for example when a process has called dup and friends, or after a process has forked. If file descriptors (even in different processes) are due to the same original open (or similar) system call, they share the same open file description. The open file description contains information about the way the file is open, including the mode (read-only vs read-write, append, etc.), the position in the file, etc. Under Linux, the open file description structure is struct file. The open file description lives at the level of the file API. The distinction is that the file API covers files such as anonymous pipes and sockets that do not live in the filesystem tree. If the file is a file in the directory tree, then the open file description contains a pointer to a directory entry. There can be multiple open file descriptions pointing to the same directory entry, if the same file was opened more than once. The directory entry contains information about what the file is, including a pointer to its parent directory, and information as to where the file is located. In the Linux kernel, the directory entry is split in two levels: struct inode which contains file metadata and struct dentry which keep track of where the file is in the directory tree. I'm interpreting the question as mainly about terminology, specifically the "file table". If you look at early implementations, the set of all open file descriptions in the system was an array. When a process needed a new open file description, the array was scanned for an unused slot and a pointer to that slot was returned. In that system, "file table" is a natural name for the system-wide array of struct file. Nowadays, open file descriptions are allocated dynamically with a more flexible mechanism than just choosing an unused slot in a fixed-size array. The set of all open file descriptions in the system is not required to be arranged in a contiguous array-like setup. So there really isn't a "file table" anymore, unless you consider every dynamic memory allocation pool to be a "table". The "file table" in the diagram on wikipedia is a set of open file descriptions. A file descriptor is an index into an array of pointers to open file descriptions. Since the open file descriptions are always accessed through those pointers, never by numerical index in some array, drawing them as a contiguous column of boxes is a little misleading. Trying to understand what your asking because it's not clear.īut if I understand properly, your asking how can multiple processes write to the same file? And calling it a "table" reinforces that misleading image.īut it's a fairly common usage so I don't expect it to die out soon. Well in Linux, by default, files are not locked by processes and its always possible for multiple processes to write to the same file. Which of course risks breaking the files formatting. When there are no more options in the Tableau, open a card from the Stock and check again. Try to work predominantly with the cards from the Tableau.Ĭreate sequences there and try to open as many hidden cards as possible. if this does not help, then hit the New Game icon and move on. In Vegas Draw 1, you can go through the Stock pile once, while in Vegas Draw 3 you can cycle through the stock three times. In Vegas scoring, you buy a deck of cards for $52 and get paid $5 for every card played to the Foundation. The main difference between Klondike Solitaire and Vegas Solitaire is that Vegas scoring is utilized in Vegas Solitaire. Vegas Solitaire is a gambling version of Klondike Solitaire, based on the standard Solitaire Rules of Klondike. The game is won when all cards have been moved to the Foundation piles in ascending order from Ace to King. Our Klondike Solitaire version allows going through the Stock pile unlimited times. If there are no more moves available in the Tableau or Waste piles, then you can turn over one or three cards at a time from the Stock pile to form a new Waste pile. A card can also be moved from the Waste pile to a Tableau pile or to a Foundation pile if it follows the rules for moving cards in those piles. For example, a red Queen can be placed on a black King. The top card of the Stock pile is turned over and placed in a separate pile called the Waste pile.Ĭards can be moved from one Tableau pile to another in descending order and alternating colors. The Stock pile contains the remaining cards that have not been dealt. The top card of each pile is face up and the remaining cards are face down. The first pile has one card, the second pile has two cards, and so on until the seventh pile which has seven cards. The game begins with seven Tableau piles containing an ascending number of cards from left to right. The goal of the game is to move all cards to the four Foundation piles in ascending order from Ace to King. Klondike Solitaire is a game played with a standard deck of 52 cards. Klondike Solitaire is probably the most popular version of Solitaire. The bottom value of the x/x indicator lists the number of cards that are left in the Stock pile. In Vegas Draw 3 (V3), the Stock pile can be cycled three times. In Vegas Draw 1 mode (V1) you can cycle through the Stock pile just once. The value is infinite for the Klondike version. The top one lists the available number of cycles of the Stock pile. There are two indicators on the Stock pile: x/x. When you click the Stock pile, a card (or three cards) is/are opened to the left in a pile called “Waste”. The Hint button will give a visual hint for the available moves. The top bar has an Undo button, which will allow you to undo your moves until the beginning of the particular game. Carl Lee asks Cat for an M-16, like they used in Vietnam together. Cat is a big-time strip club owner who also deals in arms and drugs. He drives to Memphis with Lester to visit an old friend named Cat. They don't take his threats seriously.īut Carl Lee does mean his threat very seriously. Both Walls and Jake agree that he's saying what any father would say at this juncture. Out of obligation, Jake informs Sheriff Walls that Carl Lee told him he's thinking about killing those two boys. It would be much harder to acquit Carl Lee as a Black man who killed two white men. Carl Lee feels confident that Jake could get him off, like he did his brother, but Jake explains that Lester killed a Black man. He explains that he would be tried for murder if he killed them-capital murder-and would thus face the death penalty. Jake advises Carl Lee against any rash decisions. Shortly after hearing about the rape, Carl Lee approaches Jake and asks him what would happen if he were to take matters into his own hands with regards to Cobb and Willard. A few years back, Jake represented Carl Lee Hailey's brother, Lester Hailey, in a murder case, so Jake knows the Hailey family fairly well, and he's pretty shaken to hear that Carl Lee's little girl, Tonya, has been raped. Jake is married to Carla, and they have a four-year-old girl named Hanna. His criminal law practice is finally getting off the ground and slowly earning a good reputation in the region. Meanwhile, Jake Brigance is a young lawyer living in a picturesque Victorian home with a shiny new five-thousand-dollar coat of paint on it. Cobb and Willard's trials are set, and the case seems very clear-these two are guilty. Walls arrests Cobb and Willard, and after a brief interrogation, he produces a signed confession from Willard. She's alive, but in critical condition and rushed to the hospital.Įarlier that day Tonya's father, Carl Lee Hailey, receives a call at work, at the lumber mill, from his wife Gwen. She's soon found and brought to her family's home. The next morning, they try to lynch Tonya, but the branch snaps. They keep her tied up through the night, occasionally throwing beer cans at her, or urinating on her. Cobb and Willard kidnap Tonya, drive her into the woods, tie her up, and beat and rape her until they fall asleep. Tearing through the backroads, high and drunk, they ride up on ten-year-old Tonya Hailey as she's bringing a bag of groceries back to her family's home. Personally I still use a humble spreadsheet for budgeting and my online banking gives me full control of my bank accounts.Īs for a personal organiser, I am more likely to use the applications on my phone than a desktop application for managing contacts.Īs LXLE is a respin of Lubuntu the graphical tool used for installing packages is the Lubuntu Software Centre. I would be interested in hearing how many of you find the desktop budgeting application and personal organiser useful. Unfortunately there appears to be no way to import tasks. If you use GMail you can export the contacts from Google and import them into Osmo. Osmo has 4 tabs calendar, tasks, contact and notes. Meanwhile the other application of note is Osmo which is a personal information manager. If your online banking allows you to export files in QIF format you will be able to import them into HomeBank. You can use this to keep tabs on all of your bank accounts. There is a home budgeting tool called HomeBank. LibreOffice is the office suite and includes a word processor, spreadsheet package, presentation package, drawing application and database package. The office section has a full office suite and a couple of other potentially useful applications. The main issue with the menu is that if you have lots of items in one sub-category the list becomes a bit too long. The menu is the same as the one that comes with Lubuntu (the default LXDE menu) but the theme used makes it look very good. The random wallpaper changer is worth checking out and the quick launch icon is very useful for finding an application quickly. (It is probably worth mentioning that I am colourblind and therefore struggle with shades). The dark panel works very well but it is slightly difficult to see the workspace switchers and I only realised they were there by accidentally clicking on one. The overall appeal of the LXLE desktop is very nice. There are no icons on the desktop but if you move your mouse to the left of the screen a new panel drifts in from the left with icons for commonly used applications such as the file manager, application finder, email, internet messenger, audio player, office suite, personal organiser, task manager and software centre. Using FireFox with 1 window open uses 44% of RAM. On my ACER Aspire One D255 netbook with 1 gigabyte of RAM, the system uses 19% of RAM without any applications open. In the top right corner of the screen there is an information box showing your uptime, RAM usage, CPU usage, hard drive usage, battery power, what is in your trash, upload and download speeds. The icons in the bottom right corner toggle on and off the info box in the top right corner of the screen, control audio settings, internet settings, weather, the clock and a battery monitor. There is a single panel at the bottom with the menu icon in the bottom left and icons for the file manager, random wallpaper changer, iconify windows, quick application launcher and workspace switchers. The desktop environment used within LXLE is of course LXDE. Generally speaking the installer is much like the Ubuntu/Lubuntu installer but there are some subtle differences. I have developed an installation guide showing how to install LXLE. In this review I am going to take a brief look at the normal areas such as installation, connecting to the internet, Flash and MP3 support and the general look and feel but mainly I will be focusing on the applications as that is the part that adds the value to Lubuntu to make LXLE what it is. The visible part of culture is the way we live and interact with each other, our traditions, food, and attire. Similarly, culture and behaviors have both visible and invisible components. White March Part 1: Explore the mountainous region of the white march a once prosperous dwarven territory now only ruins remain of the dwarves home. The two map quest is a mixture of the cosily familiar (a mine level in a fantasy RPG!) and things more otherworldly (the second map, which I won’t spoil), and it works as a neat microcosm for the game’s overall ethos of combining nostalgia-tinged homage with the unique. The Pillars of Eternity White March Expansion Pass contains the whole white march story DLC part 1 and 2. Inside the mines (for, as mentioned, they are now working), strange incidents concerning the workforce have escalated to a grisly murder. That latter mission is quite substantial in length (and merits its own map with distinct landscape), but perhaps the most in-depth auxiliary quest in this concluding segment is one I’d almost missed until making a second sweep of Stalwart village. It features new quests, new abilities, new talents, new areas, two new companions, new creatures, new items, and the level cap is raised to 14. This guide contains a full set of information helpful in exploring the world and learning the story of the first expansion to Pillars of Eternity, called The White March Part I.The most important part of the guide is a complete walkthrough of all the quests in the game and a thorough description of all new locations. It was announced on Jand was released on August 25, 2015. If you dealt with Concelhaut in the opening chapter of this expansion, then there’s a fabulous trip to a cultist-filled bog in store as well. Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part I is the first addon for Pillars of Eternity. The White March narrative will lead players to the Abbey no matter what, but other, more side-questy activities will briefly take you back to Dyrford in a familial dispute, and out to other parts of the March’s wilderness in search of a wandering child. Her personal quest is a touch on the familiar side ( Pillars isn’t short of amiable companions with darker secrets, and the resolution re-treads philosophical territory the game has done better), but the Abbey itself is a typically fine-looking map with some admirable variety in how it can be tackled. Maneha’s own troubles eventually intersect with the narrative progression of The White March Part 2, and lead the party to the Ondra-centric Abbey of the Fallen Moon. It’s kind of a more spiritual take on the premise behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Giftbearers, for those who don’t recall, are the devotees of Ondra (goddess of loss, tides), who collect symbolic tokens from people who wish to forget a particularly painful memory.
